About Me

My name is Kaitlyn. I'm a wife to my wonderful husband, Ryan. We got married in 2009, and three years later in November 2012, we were blessed with the most beautiful baby girl in the world, Miss Evelyn.

Fast forward 14 months, and we decided we were ready for baby number two. Soon after we started trying we learned that we would in fact be blessed with a new baby in the Fall of 2014. Hayes Ryan arrived on September 24, 2014 and is such a joy to have in our family.

People weren't kidding when they told me being a mom was the greatest. It really is, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't look at Ryan, Evie and Hayes, and think, I'm the luckiest.

But being a mommy is also exhausting, challenging, unpredictable, surprising, frustrating, discouraging, and just downright crazy sometimes. A wild rumpus, in fact. (You can read more about the title here).

Thankfully, by the Grace of God, I don't have to have it all together. Not even sort of together. And despite my mess ups of the past and those to come, I know that God has created me to be the wife and mommy I am supposed to be for my husband and daughter. Leaning on Him on days that are the toughest and in the moments my imperfections are the most apparent is the one thing that helps me keep going.

This is a blog documenting my experiences as a new mom as I learn the ropes one day at a time. From birth plans and bumbos to cloth diapering and swaddling, here's my best attempt at illustrating my likes, dislikes, successes and failures.

I don't claim to be an expert in anything related to mommyhood (or anything at all for that matter). My musings are only intended to shed light on my own experiences, thus far, while serving as my little creative outlet on the Web.

Welcome to Our Wild Rumpus.

Enjoy!
