6 month old Hayesy

We did it! We made it to half a year with Hayesy-boy. Not sure if that's actually something to celebrate, but it always feels like somewhat of an accomplishment when you reach half a year and everyone is alive and well.

Hayes must have had a growth spurt this past month, because the kid seems huge. He's starting to wear some of his 9 month clothes and carrying him these days makes my arm ache after about 5 minutes. Thank goodness for baby carriers!

You know the saying that everyone says about baby boys: He's all boy. Yeah, I've always hated that saying, but guess what... I think Hayes is all boy by the look and feel of him.

I've been just awful with recording things this month, so here's my best attempt at recalling Hayes' latests and greatests. (He was actually 6 months on March 24...but we just had his well-visit this week.)

  • His hair continues to lighten. I remember Evie's seeming more blonde right at this age as well.
  • Finally found his toes and can grab his feet.
  • Enjoys bearing weight on his legs in the Johnny Jump up and exer-saucer.
  • Cranes his neck to watch his sister play and when he hears her voice his eyes light up. He gives the biggest belly laughs whenever she's around!
  • Getting good at grabbing objects (and mommy's face with his razor sharp nails)
  • Napping 4 times a day with majority of naps only lasting 30 minutes (yawn.)
  • Waking about every 2 hours through the night (bigger yawn.)
  • Getting better with self-soothing since sticking to our routine throughout the day.
  • First bit of solids right around 6 months- a banana. He has also had some avocado.
  • So strong- pushes up on hands when on belly
  • Rolls quickly from back to belly
  • Squeals and screams when playing
  • Still no teeth, although the teething symptoms have seemed to calm down
  • Unsure about new people
  • You weigh 3 more pounds than Evie did at this age!
